Philosophical Outlook

I feel honored when I can sit with another person, who has shown the courage and willingness to, not only look at themselves, but allow me to witness and walk through this process with them. I believe people try to do the best job they can with their lives. Generally, people are resilient and resourceful and seek to solve their problems in ways that make sense to them. Despite repeated ‘best efforts’ at problem-solving, sometimes obstinate issues don’t seem to budge. Feelings about entering therapy run the gamut but, for most, there seems to be: a mixture of hope; a healthy dose of caution and apprehension; a whiff of relief; a subtle or not-so-subtle fear; and a requisite ‘leap of faith’. Each individual creates a unique mosaic with their lives; constantly shifting and rearranging the universal pieces of human existence: longing and desire; love and loss; hope and dread; fear and courage; mastery and frustration; success and failure; separation and belonging; individuality and commonality. I recognize and look for the similarities in the human experience and revel in learning about my client’s unique perspective and orchestration of these components.
